CNN Money app: keeps you updated on market trends in real time

The CNN Money app makes reading business news and browsing market trends easy on iPhone and Android devices. Investors and stockbrokers no longer need to look for a place to sit and power up their laptops just to check the latest market statistics. With this mobile app, all updates can easily be retrieved and examined real time!

CNNMoney.com is the official site of both Time Inc.’s Fortune and Money magazines. This makes it the largest business website online with close to 15 million daily unique visitors and 350,000 Twitter followers.

The app uses a blue and white color scheme and has large and easy to read font sizes. The CNN Money logo is displayed on the upper left hand side for easy navigation to the main menu, and a search icon on the upper right for searching and getting the latest stock quote. The main screen displays the DOW index and the headlines to the latest business news categorized under Business News, Economy, Technology, Personal Finance, Small Business, Term sheet, Fortune and Money. Each headline is followed by either a paper page icon indicating that its text could be read, or by a video icon that tells users that it is a video that can be watched. Again, the text of the news is easy to read and swiping to either the right or left displays the next or previous news entry. Pictures are displayed when available, and sharing the news via Email or social media is quick using the share icon on the upper right of each news item.

Tapping on the Markets button at the bottom lets users browse the DOW, S&P 500, and NASDAQ indices, see the Gainers and Losers, view the Currencies, Commodities, and the Bonds and Interest Rates. Thus, all the information you need to keep yourself informed is presented to you in a very elegant and highly intuitive user interface.

A good feature is the ability to create your own watchlists for stocks you want to monitor and follow. Push notification for when the app is not running is also available and can be turned on or off as the user prefers.
