Special Feature: Manage multiple sites with Super Site Manager
Super Site Manager is the ultimate webmaster’s tool for multiple website management. Creating and managing several websites can be both a time-consuming and costly endeavor. Adding, deleting and updating the content on each can take from a few hours to a couple of days. Also, logging in and out of different sites just to gather and examine website statistics can become a bothersome, tedious chore. Super Site Manager does away with all these highly demanding and resource-intensive inconveniences by streamlining the administration process with its simple, easy to use, single interface.
Super Site Manager (SSM) empowers the webmaster with the ability to build more than one website using completely customizable layouts, populate them with unique or published content, provide a means to exchange and share links between the sites, and generate visitor and traffic statistic reports across all domains or drilled down to a specific website
After registering at the site, downloading Super Site Manager, installing it on the server and then logging in, users are taken to the main screen. This home screen is divided into three parts: the top or header portion serves as the main navigation menu, the sidebar on the left enables addition of domains and categories and execution of other bulk domain functions, and the main area which displays all the statistical data.
Adding domains is quite easy provided that the IP addresses are correctly mapped to their respective domains. Templates can be created quickly by clicking on the Add Template link from the header menu. Users are taken to a screen where the template’s HTML or PHP code can be pasted and used.
Content is uploaded using a standard CSV file. While creating the CSV file seems like an unpleasant task, having all the websites updated instantly with new material certainly makes up for it. What’s unique with SSM though, is the use of Tokens.
Technically speaking, SSM Tokens are simply variables that can be used for the templates in all of the sites. These variables, enclosed between two percentage %% symbols at either end (e.g. %%SiteTitle%%), are used in the templates as placeholders for static content. These are filled up using the values imported from the CSV file. Thus, SSM’s token management system saves the webmaster a significant amount of time from having to go in and change static text in all of the sites one by one.
Aggregated domain statistics are displayed on the main screen with a line graph. The graph shows daily statistics by default; but this can be changed to display weekly, monthly or yearly figures. Specifying a date range is also possible. What’s more, the graph can be exported to Microsoft Excel for further analysis. Bot hits, human hits, browsers used by visitors, and other data are reported as well.
Although Super Site Manager is still young (it is currently on version 1.1), having these features makes it a great contender in the multiple website management industry. It has lots of potential and with future enhancements, could possibly become the number one tool in multi-site management.
