Trapster Makes Speeding Tickets Obsolete

trapster

Trapster is a mobile app that allows drivers to share information about speed traps and other roadway hazards to other drivers who have the software installed as well. Basically, it is a social media tool that lets motorists drive safely, and at the same time, without having to worry about getting a ticket for speeding or getting delayed from reaching their destination.

Unique Features

Trapster warns users if they are approaching a trap. Traps are displayed on the TrapMap with distinct, identifying icons for Live Police Trap, Known Enforcement Point, Red Light Camera, Speed Camera, Mobile Speed Camera, Road Hazard, School Zone, Flooded Road, etc. These icons are furthermore distinguished by their background colors that reflect Confidence Levels regarding the trap. Green trap icons are reported but unverified points, yellow trap icons are for those that have been verified by another user, and red trap icons have been voted on and confirmed by a lot of users. There is also a gray trap icon for dubious location points.

Trapster users report traps and have other users vote in agreement or agreement regarding those trap points; therefore making the app highly dependent on input from subscribers. This makes it similar to Facebook’s “Like” button, the only difference is that other people now have the option of a “Dislike” button.

The latest feature added to Trapster is the Caravan. Drivers can add members of a caravan group within the application and can then instantly send them messages informing them of construction choke points, flooded roads, school zones, and other traffic issues along a designated route.

The app also identifies Charging Stations, making it a handy resource for those who own electric-powered vehicles.

The Speed Limit feature displays the current speed limit on the road a driver is travelling on. It also displays the current speed that the vehicle is doing. The color of the speed limit alert box on the TrapMap reflects if you are within the speed limit or are going above it.

A feature that many subscribers definitely like is the My Trip feature. Using this, drivers can now save their trip and share pictures and points of interest to other social media networking services like Facebook and Twitter with the option of making it as private or as public as the user wants.

Free on all Mobile Devices

Trapster can be downloaded and installed on Apple, Blackberry, Android, Garmin, Tomtom and other mobile devices for free. Currently, it has more than 14,000,000 users worldwide.
